Green Acres

I used to love that show when  I was a kid.  I grew up in a small city; a suburb really of St. Louis, but a city nonetheless.  The "country" was on the edge of town in the form of the family farm where most people picked their pumpkins in October and their tomatoes in July.
When we first moved to Charlotte we lived 2 miles from downtown in a neighborhood much like I grew up in-sidewalks (on both sides of the street), street lights (come home when the streetlights come on!), alleys (for putting out your trash) and small city lots where you could see everything your neighbor was doing.
Well now I live in the country-Green Acres style.




This is what I saw behind my backyard today.

For some this is probably no big deal but for someone who to this day while riding in a car, no matter if it's only 2 miles from my house, will yell "Look, the cows are out" to whomever will listen-this.is.a.big.damn.deal.

So I tell the kids who were in the backyard playing with friends and their response, a lackluster

"yeah, we know mom." 

Really?  Do you?
