I am a big believer that everything happens for a reason - whether you know or like the reason, it is what it is. That being said, I also like to control things and sometimes that presents a problem.
We are house hunting and of course we are not in agreement on our next home. I would prefer to live around our current nbhood, the other half would prefer to move just a bit further out for the quiet. Ok.
We have EXHAUSTED our possibilities around here-either too small, too old, too expensive, not enough younger kids, yard not big enough, yard too big, yada-yada-yada. Literally on the way to a house I was really digging yesterday, our realtor calls to tell us they are not wanting to sell now and it's coming off the market. Ok. The winds of fate are blowing me out of here, I get it. That house was my last chance to remain in "my area".
On to the other half's house-I've been in there about 4 times now and walked into the dining room yesterday and saw 2 prints on the wall. Those kind with the flowers and the month beneath, indicating a birthday month. I knew without even walking up to them that one would be September and the other April and sure as shit, they were.
Those would be the birthday months for myself and the other half.
Seems sort of silly but I took that as a sign of "Ok, this place is for you whether you like it right now or not."
And so I swallow my disappointment and fears to move out of my comfort zone and into a great house with a great backyard for my little people, lots of potential playdates and a kitchen that blows ass.
Can't have everything.
Pretty Little People
I have some. I know, I know. How biased is that? But seriously, look at these cuties (even if the pics won't load totally clear).

Memories, new and old
Yesterday was the anniversary of my mom's death-29 years...more than 2/3 of my life. Really hard to believe and still like it happened to someone else in many ways. I have few memories, now old ones...most are happy ones like her waking me up to show me it was snowing, taking me to Wilson Park to get a pet goldfish when they cleaned the pond out for the winter, the awesome birthday parties I had. Some are sad like watching her comb her hair during chemo and seeing her cry as it fell out.
As I get older and now have kids of my own, I can appreciate a bit more how my grandma must feel on this anniversary. How impossibly sad to have your child die before you-I cannot imagine how much that must have changed her life forever. She has been my hero forever as if it were not for her, my sister and I probably wouldn't have made it. I hope I am for my own kids what she has been for me.
On to new memories...Dominick's first field trip, Nora's first Halloween and Margot's cheerleading! Love, love, love these guys...
