Mommies
GoGo has told me on several different occasions that she wants to "grow up to be a mommy like you, mommy". Sweet.
Last night she asked if girls grow up to have babies and I told her some do, some don't. Then she asked if I could help her as she "didn't know how to have one". (Thank God!)
I told her of course I would and she smiled and thanked me.
Here's the rub...I worry I won't be here to help her as my mom wasn't here to help me. I know, I know...paranoid patty is in high gear! But this is such a real fear of mine that I'm this close to running in my kitchen right now and throwing out all foods/liquids that aren't green/organic/healthy and then making appointments for accupuncture and yoga classes.
Maybe I should just have a Blue Moon and chill out...

I Wish
I wish my kids were not sensitive souls sometimes.
I wish adults edited their conversations with kids in mind sometimes.
I wish friendships grew easier as you grew older sometimes.
I wish I could heal every invisible boo-boo on my kids sometimes-the kind that come from words, not sticks or stones.
I wish I had the ability to teach my kids better about the power of words and their impact on people sometimes.
Or maybe I should be thankful my kids are sensitive so they can maybe grow to be adults that live it and pass it on. I wish.

Big Kids and Babies
Time flies. Here is it mid-October and I have yet to...
1. develop Halloween costumes for any of my three little people
2. buy or carve a pumpkin
3. even consider the possibility that Christmas is 2 months away.
Instead, I have been enjoying my "big kids" and my baby immensely.
It has been amazing to see the transformation in my Dominick since the beginning of kindergarten a mere 10 weeks ago. He is reading, spelling, counting, drawing and singing and dancing.
Margot is writing, spelling (trying to), drawing and making new friends. She is about to start cheerleading, as if there were any other option for this child. I am certain she will hurt me when she is 16 for posting this pic.
My Nora is impossibly sweet and we've hit the stage I LOVE...4 months. No crawling, no throwing food, no fighting the car seat...just sweet, sweet and more sweet.
A Few Funnies
I have a horrible memory, both long and short, and need to write this stuff down before it flys out my mental window.
A few weeks ago Dominick and I are talking in the car about spelling words, reading, etc and he says "When will they come out with new ones?" and I say "New what?"..."New Letters" he says...maybe an indication he is a little too accustomed to the new releases of Lego sets, movies, etc??? I tell him there are only 26 letters in our alphabet and all words stem from them and he just says "oh".
Gogo can still bust out some hard-to-discern words sometimes as the other day she tells me her friend called her a "frecker"...people I swear I was trying to not die laughing thinking a 3-year old called my daughter a "f_ucker". Upon further investigation while trying very hard not to laugh, it comes out that she was called a FRECKLE. Whew.
As it happens most times we are in the car, Dominick and Margot were BMWing together and Gogo was just DONE for the day and is crying and Dominick glances at her and then looks out the window shaking his head and tells her "Margot, you are just out of your mind today". Classic.

Sunday Misery
Why is it that by Sunday, this house is ready to implode? Everyone is short-circuiting it seems and Mommy is forced to consume Blue Moon at an earlier hour and warp speed.
I guess too much togetherness is the culprit, although the commercials seem to imply that all families should love to read/eat/play together while basking in the sunshine of the weekend.
Nora is definitely the tie-breaker in this house due to personalities...Margot and I are hardwired in much the same way as are Dominick and Jim. Which is probably why by this time on Sunday it's a head to head match-up! I think we all need a Come-To-Jesus tonight...or maybe Mommy just needs a few more Blue Moons and a muzzle.
I feel another post coming sooner than later...
